What to sell on a live stream: products that work live
Which categories reach the highest prices on Onda shows, which receive the most auction competition, and what Whatnot sellers say about selecting inventory.
In a live stream, what sells best is what the audience wants to see up close and compete for. On Onda, sneakers, streetwear, and Pokémon cards reach the highest prices, and sneakers almost always receive more than one bid.
This guide crosses price data from Onda shows with insights from Whatnot sellers and data from TikTok Shop Mexico.
Which categories reach the highest prices?
We reviewed completed purchases on Onda shows between April 21 and October 18, 2026. The chart shows the 90th percentile: the price that only one out of ten purchases in that category exceeds.
| Sneakers & Streetwear | MX$1,720 |
|---|---|
| Pokémon Cards | MX$1,420 |
| Electronics | MX$1,099 |
| One Piece | MX$1,079 |
| Magic | MX$680 |
| Toys | MX$550 |
| Sports Cards | MX$480 |
| Plants | MX$230 |
| Comics | MX$220 |

The ceiling for sneakers & streetwear is $1,720 MXN, and for Pokémon cards, $1,420 MXN. In sports cards, the 90th percentile lands at $480 MXN: lower-end singles and budget packs dominate there.
Which auctions get the most competition?
An auction that closes with a single bid sold at its starting price: nobody competed. This chart measures how often that happens across each category.
| Comics | 87% |
|---|---|
| Toys | 54% |
| Sports Cards | 52% |
| One Piece | 38% |
| Pokémon Cards | 30% |
| Magic | 29% |
| Electronics | 28% |
| Plants | 10% |
| Sneakers & Streetwear | 10% |

In sneakers & streetwear and in plants, nine out of ten auctions received more than one bid. In comics, the opposite happens: almost all sold on the opening bid. If you sell comics, set a starting bid that already guarantees you a profit.
What do Whatnot sellers say about inventory?
Cayley Elaine sums up her experience in one sentence: people want pretty things. She explains that Whatnot buyers are the same ones buying on eBay, Depop, and Poshmark; only the selling format changes.
For low-demand items, she recommends a separately curated show targeted at the right buyer. Don't mix clearance stock with your high-end hits.
Some sellers start with whatever they have on hand. The official Whatnot channel interviewed Mama Sweet Repeats: they started selling clothes right out of their own closet and today run two storefronts with a full team.
What can I sell on a live stream?
| Product | What the buyer inspects | Best fitting format |
|---|---|---|
| Pokémon Cards | Set, language, centering, and corners | Sudden death auction, box break, or mystery box |
| Sports Cards | Player, numbering, and condition | Team break or sudden death auction |
| Sneakers | Size, box, tag, and soles | Sudden death auction |
| Apparel & Streetwear | Size, material, and tag | Drop or mystery set |
| Collectible Toys | Box condition, completeness, and edition | Sudden death auction or mystery box |
For sneakers, show the box, size tag, and soles before running the auction. For cards, angle each piece under the light to show off the holofoil surface, edges, and corners.
Does selling apparel live work in Mexico?
Yes. In fashion, TikTok reports that 33% of TikTok Shop Mexico sales already come from LIVE streams, according to Emprendedor (October 2, 2026). The same study with AMVO notes that product reviews capture 40% of viewer attention, while tutorials account for 37%.
For apparel, show the tag, size, and fabric texture on camera, and measure length and width live. For a large inventory of similar items, run a drop. For a hyped, limited piece, run a sudden death auction starting at $20 MXN.
What shouldn't you sell on a live stream?
Avoid items you cannot describe with absolute certainty. If you doubt its authenticity, don't sell it. Slower-moving items don't need to be discarded: bundle them alongside a premium hit inside a mystery box.
Whatnot treats authenticity as a gated barrier. According to its Trust Center, luxury handbags and wholesale stock require extra approval to sell. They also partner with Entrupy and Real Authentication so sellers can authenticate inventory before going live.
This lesson applies directly in Mexico: if a high-value collectible lacks proof of authenticity, get an authentication certificate before the show. Show it on camera right beside the item.
Every purchase includes 14-day buyer protection from the purchase date. If an issue arises, the buyer can contact the seller via the app within 5 business days of delivery; our Terms (20.1 and 20.2) cover counterfeit items, items misrepresenting what was shown, or non-delivery.
Check our seller fees, read how to sell live, and apply to sell once your inventory is ready.
